Tara Šljivančanin, a cadet from the Podgorica taekwondo club S3, secured the gold medal, while Lana Baletić and Marija Nestorović both earned bronze on the inaugural competitive day of the Grand Prix finals for cadets and juniors held in Bucharest.
This tournament is categorized as E10 level and features 16 of the top fighters in Europe by weight class.
Šljivančanin took gold in the under 44-kilogram category, triumphing over Italy’s Nicole Masalja in the final.
She advanced to the final by defeating Nadja Kolar from Serbia and Romania’s Maja Simeonov.
Baletić claimed a bronze medal in the same category after beating Bulgarian competitor Maja Simeonov in the match for third place.
Initially, she eliminated Croatian fighter Elena Katičić in the first round but was defeated by Italian Masalja in the second round.
Nestorović earned bronze in the under 33-kilogram category.
She won against Greek competitor Angeliki Papamihail in her first match but lost to France’s Enea Bruna in the second round.
Her bronze was secured by defeating Serbian representative Nađa Babić.
Cadet Petar Adžić put forth an impressive performance but did not medal in the under 37-kilogram category.
“Despite a commendable fight, Adžić wasn’t able to contest for a medal. He lost in the first round to Bulgaria’s Vladislav Krastev. Saturday will be a day off for us, and on Sunday, we’ll be supporting juniors Vasilij Nestorović in the under 59-kilogram category and Andrea Berishaj in the under 63-kilogram category,” stated S3 taekwondo club coach Vlado Stanišić to the MINA agency.
