This season, for the first time, SC Derby’s basketball team has achieved back-to-back victories against Spartak in Subotica and Cibona in “Morača”. A third consecutive win would send a strong signal to their competitors that the Podgorica squad is gearing up for a push towards the AdmiralBet ABA League playoffs.
The challenge in the 18th round is far from easy; the “students” have their strengths heading into an away game against Zadar, scheduled for tonight at 5:30 PM.
Zadar stands at 9-8, tied for seventh place, while SC Derbi has secured six wins, one of which was a dominant triumph against Danijel Jusup’s team (86:62).
“We are facing another tough away game. Zadar is an experienced team that has developed a robust playing system over the years under coach Jusup. They are physically strong and focus on fast-paced gameplay and low post actions. We must neutralize these aspects and execute solid defense against their key player, Vladimir Mihailović,” stated Derby coach Petar Mijović.
Zadar has clinched four victories in their last five outings.
“I expect our offensive engagement to adapt to the various defensive schemes posed by our opponent, particularly in the pick and roll. We are dealing with personnel issues ahead of this match, making the lineup uncertain, which complicates our preparations,” Mijović added.
This season, the “Students” have only registered one away win against Spartak.
“Even though we had a convincing win earlier this season, we understand that playing in Zadar will be quite challenging,” remarked Podgorica’s center Filip Andjušić.
In Dalmatia, prices for SC Derbi:
“Zadar is noted for its exceptional transition play. They have quick guards like Erik Nil and experienced center Zoran Nikolić, who can be troublesome in post-up situations, along with Luka Bogavac, who brings creativity. They are highly adaptable, quick, and present a tough matchup on the road,” asserted Jusup.
