Jadran Travels to Zagreb: A Crucial Match for Buducnost

After nearly a month, club water polo resumes as regional competitions kick off, featuring five Montenegrin teams.

Water polo teams Jadran Mtela and Budućnost will be the first to hit the water in their respective leagues. The Novi Sad side will take on Mladost this Friday at 20:30 PM, a crucial match as both vie for a spot in the final tournament. Meanwhile, Podgorica’s team will welcome the Vukovi at 19:30 PM.

Jadran currently sits fourth in the standings after 11 rounds, holding a two-point lead over the “frogs,” whom they bested 11:9 in their earlier encounter at Škver.

“Mladost is a formidable opponent, a key rival for a playoff position. We anticipate a tough match in Zagreb but are optimistic,” expressed Jadran’s promising player Strahinja Gojković, who recently made his debut for the Montenegrin national team during the World Cup qualifying tournament.

Buducnost aims for a playoff spot as well, albeit in a lower league, and their chances hinge greatly on the outcome against Vukovi.

“A victory would significantly enhance our playoff chances,” noted coach Aleksandar Aleksić.

The Wolves currently occupy the second spot with 18 points, three ahead of Buducnost and Qatar.

“Our preparations during the break went exceptionally well, and we’ve made some changes to our lineup. Mlađan Janović has retired from playing, while we’ve welcomed Damjan Vujičić, a player with Champions League experience,” added Aleksić, whose team will face Zemun in “Morača” on Sunday.

In the Premier League, Primorac will challenge Novi Beograd (who boast a perfect record with 11 wins) this Saturday.

In the A1 league, Kataro has two matches scheduled this weekend (against Zemun on Saturday and Vukovi on Sunday), while Budva will compete against Korčula on Saturday.
