Pioneers Defeated by Turkey
The Montenegrin women’s volleyball team faced a defeat against Turkey, losing 3:0 (25:17, 25:16, and 25:19) last night in Sofia during the fourth round of the zonal qualification tournament for the European Championship.
This marks the second loss for the Montenegrin squad, and their performance has been lacking ahead of the final round.
They previously lost to Bulgaria but managed to secure victories against Serbia and Romania.
Turkey, which remains the only undefeated team in the tournament, lived up to its expectations against the Montenegrin national team.
Despite displaying commendable fighting spirit, particularly in the second and third sets, the Montenegrin team was unable to achieve another upset.
Klara Đukić and Elena Jovanović were the standout performers for Montenegro, contributing 13 and 11 points, respectively, with Sofija Duletić adding another nine.
On the Turkish side, Halise Metin and Selis Ecrin Turkyaşar each recorded 12 points.
The Montenegrin pioneers are set to compete against Greece on the final day of the tournament tomorrow at 16:30 PM.
