Voli’s future is looking bright as they aim to secure another win for their fans, marking their ninth consecutive victory in the AdmiralBet ABA League. They will approach the game against Igokea with focus, avoiding any complacency.
With the 18th round of the regional competition approaching, the Podgorica team is favored to win against the team they previously defeated 76:71 in Laktaši earlier this season.
Igokea has secured 11 victories in the regional league, which is four fewer than Budućnost, who are currently tied for first place. This discrepancy highlights that Andrej Žakelj’s team must not underestimate their opponent in tomorrow’s matchup at 19:00.
“Igokea has proven they deserve their current position in the ABA League. They are a solid team with an experienced coach, well-prepared and equipped. We must recognize them as a tough opponent with talented individual players; if we allow them to play their game, we could face challenges,” Žakelj commented.
The onus will be on Budućnost to perform.
“Our priority is to prepare effectively, limiting their key players’ impact while leveraging our strengths. After our Eurocup engagements, some fatigue from travel is evident, but it’s crucial for us to maintain the highest level of focus, regardless of our opponent. We’re considered the favorites, and we need to live up to that expectation,” emphasized the Slovenian coach.
Basketball player Andrija Slavković shared a straightforward message:
“Igokea possesses quality, and we are in a solid rhythm. We must match that energy level from before, ensuring there are no issues. With energy and the advantage of playing at home, mistakes are not an option. We are the better team and need to demonstrate that.”
