The promotional video showcasing the achievements of Montenegrin karate in 2024 extended to an impressive 10 minutes instead of the intended five, highlighting the exceptional production by “Amplitude” during the celebration honoring the sport’s best. Karate Association President, Predrag Perković, succinctly stated, “We are progressing, constantly year after year we are on the rise!”

The roster of medalists from major competitions across all age categories, alongside titles and licenses awarded to coaches and judges, as well as seminars featuring three of the sport’s all-time greats in fighting and kata disciplines, coupled with an exceptionally organized Balkan Championship where they upheld their title as the top team, supports Perković’s assertion.

Additionally, earlier today, the Montenegrin Olympic Committee named Jovana Damjanović, a European gold and world silver medalist in wrestling, as the best young athlete of Montenegro.

“With pride, and in the spirit of unity among competitors and professional teams, alongside the fantastic efforts in clubs, and hopefully with the superb organization of the Federation… along with the Ministry of Sports, support from COK, and our sponsors, this achievement is a success we all share. These accolades are a testament to dedication and selfless work, serving as inspiration for the younger generation to reach similar heights,” remarked Perković.

The awards ceremony commenced with a golden plaque awarded to Biserka Radulović, the best kata karate player in Montenegro for 12 years, who announced her retirement and transition to the junior women’s selection team.

Nenad Dulović, last year’s top Montenegrin athlete and silver finalist at this year’s European Championship in Zadar, was recognized as the best fighter in Montenegro, while his clubmate Milena Jovanović claimed her third title as the top karateka.

Vladimir Mijač and Mila Mraković topped their respective categories, while Žarko Raković, coach of Omladinc and the women’s national team, earned Coach of the Year for the 15th consecutive time, alongside his club being recognized as the most successful.

Jovana Damjanović and Jusuf Saljiu were celebrated as the top athletes in the youth division.

Plaques and trophies were presented to numerous medalists from the European Championships for cadets, juniors, and seniors in Georgia, totaling six medals, marking the most successful performance by our selection ever!

Recognition was also given to medalists from the World Cup in Venice, as well as the Balkan and Mediterranean Championships…

Furthermore, KSCG has made strides in launching a parakarate program, with Perković indicating that competitions in this discipline are now simultaneous within the programs of both European and world federations.

“We have established a solid foundation with 47 clubs and over 3,000 members, plus 123 licensed coaches… Additionally, we have an enthusiastic group within the Association, led by Tanja Dukić, whose expertise in WKF-marketing equips us to compete with the best,” concluded Perković.

Acknowledgments were also given to director of national teams Miodrag-Mijo Radunović, all 13 selectors across various classes and disciplines, and three judges who improved their positions in the EKF refereeing establishment – Toko Raičević, Milica Bura, and Nikola Glušac.

Our judges officiated at 2024 international competitions in 15 categories!
