Is Hvica’s Replacement Coming from Borussia?
After the initial shock faded, Napoli began to miss Hvicha Kvaratskhelia, but soon realized they still possess the talent to contend for the Scudetto even without the Georgian prodigy.
The “Azzurri” have demonstrated that they are genuine rivals to Inter, benefiting from the fact that Napoli is not participating in European tournaments this season (in contrast to Inter, Atalanta, Juventus, Milan, Lazio, Fiorentina, and Roma). With a few additional reinforcements, the Neapolitans could pose a significant threat to all teams in Italy.
Under Antonio Conte’s guidance, the squad has amassed six points from two crucial derbies in the past ten days—victories against Atalanta in Bergamo and Juventus at home. They are also expected to secure a replacement for Kvaratskhelia by the end of January.
This replacement won’t be Alejandro Garnacho from Manchester United or Edon Žegrova from Lille, but rather the German international Karim Adeyemi.
While Garnacho remains a possibility (along with Lazio’s Mattia Zaccagni and Bologna’s Dan Ndoye), the Borussia Dortmund striker has emerged as the primary candidate. Although Napoli hopes to negotiate a lower fee, the expected deal is around 50 million euros. According to “Bild,” this transfer is imminent, with Borussia aware of the situation and already preparing an alternative should Adeyemi make the move to southern Italy.
As reported by “Bild,” Borussia Dortmund is set to sign 23-year-old Kevin Schade from Red Bull Salzburg, with the transfer proceeding if Napoli successfully acquires Adeyemi.
This season in Serie A, Napoli has secured 66 points from a possible 53, placing them three points ahead of reigning champions Inter, with one game in hand. Meanwhile, Atalanta, who were leading until recently, now find themselves seven points adrift of the top position.
