A Feeble Effort by SD to Distract from the Recent Wrongdoing of Their Senior Official

Democratic Montenegro has stated that the European Union’s remarks regarding the alleged fuel expenditures of Deputy Speaker of the Parliament Zdenka Popović signify “a feeble attempt to distract from the recent misconduct revealed involving one of their high-ranking officials.”
The Democrats assert that Social Democrat (SD) MP Branislav Nenezić “misappropriated the municipal electric vehicle, misleading the parliamentary service, and claimed a mere 30.9 euros for fuel expenses by reporting a fuel-consuming vehicle rather than an electric one.”
“Rather than confronting the facts and being accountable for their actions, including returning the costly municipal vehicle, they have resorted to their usual backdoor tactics, which entail targeting one individual, Zdenka Popović, using her as a facade to excuse, equalize, or obscure their own wrongdoing. This attack is not only deeply hypocritical but also symbolizes a continuation of a desperate strategy that has persisted for years, executed by Ivan’s and Damir’s advocates,” the Democrats declared.
They were responding to allegations from the European Union, which includes the SD, that at the beginning of the month, “information regarding the questionable fuel consumption by Deputy Speaker of Parliament Zdenka Popović went entirely unnoticed by the public.”
“Citizens still remember the ‘golden era’ of their political mentor Ivan Brajović, during which 200 thousand euros vanished from the parliamentary funds. His followers, it appears, have not forgotten their methods, but due to their position in opposition, they have been limited to petty embezzlement. Today, as the opposition, they have embarrassed themselves over a trivial sum of 30.9 euros. Imagine, esteemed citizens, the consequences had they been in power at the state level – those 30 euros would rapidly escalate to 30 million.”
The Democrats have urged citizens “to remain alert and not to be deceived by such trivial political maneuvers.”
“The Democrats will persist in operating transparently for the benefit of citizens, rather than covering up scandals and abuses, as the Social Democrats have done for years. More scandals, in which the Social Democrats are directly implicated, will certainly emerge in the near future. We advise the Social Democrats, or rather the European Union, to avoid further embarrassment and to seek those 30 euros a second time from their older, affluent mentors Ivan and Damir or from Aco Mijalović and Ljubo Milović. They deserve at least that much; we are quite confident of it,” the statement concluded.
