From the worst game of the season to nine consecutive wins – perhaps the defeat to Spartak in mid-November at “Morača” was a serious blunder for the Buducnost Voli basketball players, but when it happened, it was also at the ideal moment.
The “Blue and White” then showed how serious a team they can be, how good basketball they can play, and they tied their ninth triumph in a new exhibition game against Igokea – 111:77, in the 18th round of the AdmiralBet ABA League.
The form of Andrej Žakelj’s team is also indicated by the fact that, when the Eurocup is included, they have only suffered one defeat in their last 12 games, and that was against Bahçeşehir in a match in which the outcome could easily have been different.
The team from Podgorica thus continues the race with Partizan for first place in the regular season, while two key matches for the Eurocup playoffs await them.
When it comes to the duel with Igokea, the fact that Buducnost scored 60 points before the break, and 111 at the end, speaks volumes about the “atomic” basketball of the Montenegrin champion.
In addition to all of that, all players who were on the scoresheet were included in the scorers’ list.
Two points by Kenan Kamenjas and a three-pointer by Rashid Sulajmon immediately led Buducnost to a 5:0 lead, it was quickly 12:3, and at the beginning of the second quarter it was 32:19 after a “flying” three-pointer by Fletcher Magee.
During the first half, McKinley Wright once again led the way, Kamenjaš dominated the racket, followed by Maggi, Yogi Ferrell and Sulajmon, so after 20 minutes the scoreboard in “Morača” showed 60:41.
Until the end, Maggi and Wright continued to “pour” their energy, Nikola Tanaskovic also got into the game, Kamenjaš missed a rebound for a double-double (10-9), and Buducnost brought the game to an end without many problems in the same rhythm from the first half.
The only concern after this match is Đorđije Jovanović, who fell awkwardly at the end of the match while trying to dunk after a duel with Terrell Carter.
The match at “Morača” began with a minute of silence in honor of the legendary Dražen Dalipagić, who passed away on Saturday.
