Last night, Budućnost Volija’s basketball team triumphed over Igokea with a score of 111:77 in the 18th round of the AdmiralBet ABA League. In addition to the robust victory, the game in Podgorica will also be noted for Alen Omić’s remarkable performance, which solidified his place in history within the regional competition.
The center for Budućnost secured seven rebounds during the match, earning him the title of the player with the most rebounds in the history of the regional league. Omić now leads with a total of 1,332 rebounds, surpassing the previous record held by former Cibona center Marin Rozić, who had 1,327 rebounds in this league.
Following Omić and Rozić on the leaderboard is Todor Gečevski with 1,314 rebounds. The top five players include Čedomir Vitkovac with 1,266 and Smiljan Pavič with 1,255 rebounds.
The top ten rebounders also feature Miro Bilan with 1,211, Suad Šehović with 1,092, Luka Mitrović with 1,063, Andrija Žižić with 1,031, and Boris Savović with 1,008 rebounds.
Throughout his career in the ABA League, Omić has played for other teams such as Zlatorog, Olimpija, Crvena zvezda, and Cedevita-Olimpija.
His career has also seen him play for clubs like Gran Canaria, Efes, Unicaja, Hapoel Jerusalem, Olimpia Milan, Juventud, Burg, Gwangju, and Metropolitan.
