Grenell’s Disgraceful Claim: Only Vučić’s Regime Engages in Violence

Borko Stefanović, the deputy president of Serbia’s Freedom and Justice Party (SSP), informed Richard Grenell, the US President’s envoy for special missions, that violence in Serbia is perpetrated solely by the Vučić regime.

Stefanović responded to Grenell’s comment on X, where he noted that the US does not support those who forcefully occupy institutional buildings during the student protests in Serbia.

“You are aware that only Vučić’s regime engages in violence. It is also known that no one is forcibly occupying government buildings that Vučić has long since taken from the people. The entire nation of Serbia is rising against Vučić’s regime, which is riddled with murderous corruption. Therefore, your statement is even more disgraceful. It is not part of American tradition to back violence and the blatant theft of departing dictators, especially those whom the Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman claims are being overthrown in the streets by America and the ‘evil West,'” Stefanović conveyed in a message to Grenell.

He further suggested that “perhaps he is writing all this because he understands that once we remove this arrogant, corrupt, and dictatorial regime, he will lose his private agreements with those in power,” as reported by N1.

“I assure you that you will, and soon enough, because change is coming,” Stefanović asserted.

In a subsequent statement, Grenell expressed:

“It is always crucial to raise your voice and be heard. However, everyone must denounce violence and adhere to peaceful demonstrations. The democratic process must be upheld. We do not support those who undermine the rule of law and occupy state buildings by force. If you disagree with the law or the leader, then engage in the political process — do not resort to violence.”
