SD Represents the Pinnacle of Hypocrisy and Moral Decay in Modern Montenegrin Politics
The Social Democrats of Montenegro (SD), aside from those abstaining from involvement, currently exemplify the highest levels of hypocrisy and represent a moral decline in modern Montenegrin politics, as expressed by the Democratic Montenegro.
“The parliamentary platform, or rather the media stage, which should serve as a venue for the exchange of ideas and arguments, has long been transformed into a theater where they propagate the most vile lies and the most degrading insults directed at their peers, accompanied by some of the most unrefined behavior witnessed in parliamentary history. Through their remarks, they demonstrate a readiness to disregard all principles of political integrity for their personal and party gain. Their supposed struggle for citizens’ benefit is merely a cheap act aimed at surviving politically just above the threshold, regardless of the ramifications,” the Democrats declared in response to a statement from the European Union, of which the SD is a member, that accused them of being “an extension of the Skaljar clan, which purchased votes for them.”
Declaring themselves as social democrats while acting in defiance of the fundamental tenets of social justice, solidarity, appreciation, and respect is nothing short of a betrayal of their own identity, according to the Democrats.
“This is not politics – it is a theater of hypocrisy, where the masks of morality have long fallen, revealing naked personal ambitions and the defense of fabricated interests. When a single word loses its significance, when every utterance is hollow and tainted with deception, it ceases to exist. That is precisely how every word emanating from them sounds today – not as a statement, but as a reminder of decades of devastation and the ongoing hypocrisy they display each day, especially today when they stand fully exposed,” the Democrats observe.
They remark on the absurdity of the so-called “Ramada Party” getting so flustered, spreading their wings, and reacting with anger simply because they have been caught in wrongdoing.
“Furthermore, media reports indicate a fraud worth 30 euros, notably more than the zero euros for which some of their officials acquired apartments they rent out regularly, and slightly lower than the square meter cost for other officials who received luxury apartments in Podgorica. Unsurprisingly, they consistently nominated figures like Veselin Veljović and similar personalities for positions such as directors of the Police Administration, as their purported crime-fighting credentials were unmistakably overshadowed by an insatiable drive for personal privileges,” stated the Democrats.
They advised citizens that when the SD attempts to associate anyone with criminal organizations, it is indicative of the panic within those very groups that they have nurtured and fortified beyond the state itself, along with the system and regime they have loyally served.
“Thus, it is no surprise that they are instigating protests against those creating conditions for the continued prosecution of members of the Škaljari and Kavač criminal clans and anyone who serves illicit interests. Competent institutions affirm daily that no individual or criminal group can find protection. Hence, there exists a state of panic. This is why they join forces with ‘students’ Mijajlović and Milović in the streets, demanding resignations.”
In their defensive onslaught, they are resorting to cheap, stale tricks and falsehoods, all in an effort to exonerate Veselin Veljović, Ljubo Milović, Zoran Lazović, and others from accountability. If any compromising evidence existed against the Democrats, Milivoje Katnić would not have scandalously published irrelevant private communications on the prosecutor’s office website, nor would Dragan Krapović have been detained for a traffic offense, which he managed to politicize, suggesting a threat to the constitutional order; they would have imprisoned us without hesitation. Neither Milivoje nor Zoran, nor you – for whom every truth is precisely this and who perceive us as their greatest threat – would certainly have let such an opportunity slip away,” declared the Democrats.
They emphasized that the failure of society, the betrayal of the state, and the plight of all those who served the previous regime necessitate that they remain silent, rather than frustratingly deceiving individuals who have led honorable lives and toiled for a living. The prosecutorial and judicial processes of the relevant institutions reveal that the country and its core institutions were reduced to mere couriers for mafia networks during the past regime.
“That chapter will never be rewritten. And that’s why those who matter to no one, who are permitted to mention every name and every criminal, who are purging mafia affiliates from the system and placing trustworthy individuals in decision-making roles, have become a nuisance to us. Because they recognize that things will only worsen for all parties aligned with the mafia scene.”
Consequently, the fabrications from the aforementioned colleagues no longer shock anyone, particularly considering that they belong to a party whose officials have been conclusively proven to have lied in court, as established by the judiciary. We merely differ in our belief that there are limits, and that not everything should be permissible in politics.
“Just as they fabricated narratives previously, they continue to concoct stories now, such as claiming that a company vehicle transported Zdenka Popović to her apartment, neglecting the fact that the streets in that particular area are restricted from traffic, as it constitutes a pedestrian zone. All that remains is for them to assert that she parachuted onto her apartment from the Army of Montenegro. Given their level of hypocrisy, that’s precisely the tale they will spin,” the statement concludes.
